Our History

As Savannah natives, Corbin and Ami Zipperer have their hands and feet in Georgia soil all their lives.  Born and raised in Isle of Hope, Corbin and Ami don’t just know our communities; they are a part of them.

Growing up in the lawn and garden industry, ask Corbin how long he’s been doing this and he will confidently tell you- his whole life!  Ami also grew up in the industry, as a part of the family who built Gatch Florist.

Utilizing his knowledge of Savannah’s climate and needs, Corbin started a small fertilizer and pest control company in the mid 1980’s.  In the mid 1990’s, Corbin and Ami started a property management company, building on Corbin’s previous company, taking new clients and building lasting relationships.

As Low Country Landscapes, Inc. continued to experience tremendous growth in both the scope of their services and breadth of their clients, Corbin realized that there was a need for a better source of materials on our side of town. Herb Creek Landscape Supplies, Inc. opened in August 2004, and answered the need for quality products, plant material, ornamentals and palms at a reasonable price.  Naming our store Herb Creek honored Corbin’s childhood home on the river, as well as the community we serviced.

Thanks to the great success that Herb Creek experienced in Sandfly, we found it difficult to accommodate our increasing demand for more and larger product on the property year after year. With little garden center presence on the east side of Savannah, Corbin and Ami decided in the fall of 2013 to open our second location on the border of Thunderbolt. Located directly across from Coach's Corner on Savannah's famous Victory Drive, the second Herb Creek Landscape Supply opened March 1st, 2014, and sits on more than 2 and a half acres of land just west of the Wilmington River. Finally, we have the space to carry larger quantities AND larger sizes of the landscape plants you love!  Gutting the old Bill Hilliard's restaurant was an undertaking, as the old kitchen became the fertilizer and treatment room, the concrete floors received a rich stain, and accent walls popped with color. A custom display made from recycled pallets became the showcase for beach inspired coastal décor, unique local art, and always the best foliage plants around!

Long-term residents may recall that prior to 2004, our Sandfly location served as home to Polk’s Produce, as well as a service station. We're thrilled to accept the award of Best Nursery & Garden Center in the 2014 Best of Savannah Home & Garden edition, as voted by the good folks of Savannah!  We’re proud of the improvements we have made to our locations in Sandfly and Thunderbolt, and we’re also proud to be a family owned and operated member of the independent garden center industry. We truly thank you for helping us continue to do what we love, and we hope to continue for many years to come!
